York-based Hethertons Solicitors recently supported Auker Rhodes Accounting with acquiring York Cocoa House out of administration in a pre-pack deal.
Auker Rhodes Accounting is a Bradford-based firm that specialises in corporate and personal insolvency advice.
Frazer Ulrick was appointed as administrator to York Cocoa House on 15 November 2023 and the Auker Rhodes team was actively involved in marketing York Cocoa House to potential buyers.
Led by Tom Henry, Director of Commercial Property, Hethertons Solicitors worked with Auker Rhodes to facilitate the acquisition of York Cocoa House by YCW Trading.
This deal enables the Castlegate-based chocolate manufacturer to continue operating after years of financial instability.
Founded by Sophie Jewett in 2011, York Cocoa House makes and sells chocolate, operates a chocolate café, and runs chocolate-making workshops.
Jewett was named in the list of the Top 10 Most Influential People in the World of Cocoa and Chocolate 2024, published by CocoaRadar – an independent newsletter covering the cocoa and chocolate industry.
While YCW Trading owns the company, Jewett will continue to run the business.
Speaking about the deal, Tom Henry said: “We were glad that we could step in to help YCW with its acquisition of this iconic confectionery business.
“This deal ensures that York Cocoa House can continue to provide sweet treats and workshops as one of the UK’s leading chocolatiers.”
