  Hethertons puts its best foot forward at Great North Run for Tiny Tickers


Two colleagues from Hethertons Solicitors are to take part in this year’s Simply Health Great North Run to raise money for the firm’s charity of the year, Tiny Tickers.

Barbara Stephens and Helen Grainger are making their final preparations for the run, which is due to take place on Sunday 9 September 2018 in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Adultery is the most common reason for divorce


According to research, the most common reason couples today divorce is adultery. This is due to the speed of the process, allowing couples to move on with their lives faster.

The proportion of divorces granted to wives because of ‘unreasonable behaviour’ has increased dramatically from 17 per cent in 1971, trebling to 51 per cent in 2016.

Stamp Duty cut to benefit millions of buyers


The Government decision to remove Stamp Duty for many in the UK is expected to help over a million people get on the housing ladder over the next five years, according to official projections.

Since the policy implemented removing the Stamp Duty fees from properties costing under £300,000 for first-time buyers and lowering fees for existing buyers it is estimated that around £284 million in fees has been avoided so far.

Major Development Proposed at Lowfield school site


A major development which will include 165 homes, an apartment block, a care home, a police station and health centre could be set to be built on the former Lowfield School site in Acomb.

There have been mixed feelings on the new development with a number of residents objecting to the scheme, raising concerns about the increased traffic, loss of wildlife and pressure on nearby facilities.
