  Council pulls out of deal to refurbish Guildhall


The intended refurbishment of York’s historic Guildhall has hit a setback after City of York Council pulled the plug on a £9 million pound renovation.

The major overhaul was to have included new offices, along with a café and restaurant, but rising costs have seen the deal with contractors, Interserve, come to a premature end. Even so, the council says it remains “committed” to the proposed development.
