Unmarried Relationships    Print this page

Unmarried couples do not enjoy the benefits and the protection which the law gives to those who chose to marry; contrary to popular belief there is no such thing as the "common law wife" and there can be no adjustment of property to reflect what may be considered fair or reasonable between the partners. This makes it vitally important that you regulate your relationship at the outset.

We have lawyers experienced in this field who can help you negotiate a cohabitation agreement or a pre-nuptial agreement which will determine your rights should your relationship break down.

We can advise you about the ownership of property before you buy, thereby avoiding costly arguments about the sale, or the ownership of it at some future date. Nobody likes to think that a relationship may not work out, but some consideration of the consequences of breakdown before you invest in it financially or emotionally, will undoubtedly save you money.
