  Workman suffers serious burns after striking power cable


 

A real estate lettings firm has received a substantial fine after an incident in which a self- employed builder received an electric shock while working on a property in Harrogate.

Michael Phillips suffered 1st and 3rd degree burns to his face, hands, neck and chest, following the incident in October 2015.

A five-time world darts champion has been fired from his job with Sky Sports after he made a number of derogatory comments about gay people and the victims of sexual abuse on social media.

Macmillan Cancer Support recently revealed the results of a survey, which canvassed the opinion of more than 1,000 workers who have been diagnosed with the illness.

The results of a recent survey have pressed home the importance of employers setting out what is expected of staff before their Christmas party.

The research, which was carried out by the alcohol education charity Drinkaware, found that more than a quarter of those questioned had regretted something they had done while enjoying the traditional workplace festivities.

  Long-serving employee suffered “perfunctory” redundancy consultation


 

An Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) has overruled a previous decision that an employee’s dismissal was fair, having concluded that the redundancy consultation was both “perfunctory and insensitive.”

The claim had been brought by a Mr Thomas who had worked for the financial services giant BNP Paribas for more than 40 years.
