Employment Law Personnel 
Jo Yeates
Jo is a Senior Associate Solicitor and the Head of the Employment Department. She qualified in 1994, having graduated from
Warwick University and York College of Law. She acts for employers and employees which gives her valuable insight on
both perspectives. She is an expert employment lawyer and regularly presents seminars and writes articles for
publication. She is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, a specialist body dedicated to best practice in
employment law. She was staff partner for several years at her previous firm which means that she has hands-on
experience of the day-to-day problems of managing a business.
Sue King
Sue King is an Associate Solicitor in our Employment Law department. She has wide experience of dealing with
employment law issues ranging from all types of Employment Tribunal claims to advising on TUPE issues, restructuring businesses, changing terms
and conditions and drafting employment related documents. Sue also delivers training to employers on all aspects of employment law. She is an
experienced speaker at public seminars and she has published articles in the local press and HR publications. Sue is a member of the Employment
Lawyers Association.
Sue previously managed her own business and therefore she has first hand knowledge of the problems facing small businesses.
Gareth Stevens
Gareth is an Associate Solicitor. He was educated at University of Durham and College of Law, York and qualified as a
solicitor in April 2007. He specialises in employment law and is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
Toby Conyers-Kelly
Toby Conyers-Kelly heads up the Civil and Commercial Litigation Department. He has been qualified as a solicitor since 1983
and has spent almost the entirety of that time specialising in civil litigation work, including employment law.
